Soft butch
A masculine-of-center presentation that sits toward the softer or more androgynous side of butch. People use it when butch fits, but classic hard-butch aesthetics do not.

Soft butch is one of several words people use for living between hard butch and femme. It still claims masculine-of-center ground; it just does not require the sharpest version of that look or manner.
Like other presentation labels, it only fits if someone chooses it. Nearby words include futch and stem, which have their own histories and, in stem's case, racial specificity.
Butch is the broader parent term.
