A softer or more androgynous take on stud identity within Black and Latinx sapphic communities. The racial specificity of stud still applies.

Soft stud works like soft butch does next to butch: same identity family, less hard-edged presentation. The person still claims stud; they just do not dress or carry themselves as the most stereotypically hard version of it.
Stud remains a Black and Latinx term. Soft stud does not open the word to people outside those communities. If that is not your lineage, soft butch or soft masc is the usual alternative.
