Terms of Use

These are the terms for using The Sapphic Sanctuary. Please read them before creating an account or posting.

1. Agreement

These Terms are an agreement between you and The Sapphic Sanctuary. They cover the website at https://www.sapphicforum.comand its related services (the "Service"). Do not use the Service if you do not agree to them.

These documents are part of the agreement too: our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, and Community Guidelines.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use member features. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for what happens through your account. Keep your login details private. Tell us through the Contact page if you suspect unauthorized access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Guidelines.

4. Your content

You still own what you post. By posting it, you give The Sapphic Sanctuary a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as needed to run the Service and show people what is available on it.

Only post material you have the right to share. It must not infringe somebody else's rights or break the law.

We can remove, edit, or restrict material that breaks these Terms, our Guidelines, or the law. We may also act when leaving it up would put the community at risk.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, stalk, dox, or incite violence against anyone
  • Post hate speech, including content targeting LGBTQ+ people, women, or marginalized groups
  • Share sexual content involving minors, or any exploitative material
  • Spam, scams, phishing, malware, or deceptive affiliate schemes
  • Attempt to break into accounts, scrape the Service abusively, or disrupt infrastructure
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation with The Sapphic Sanctuary
  • Use the Service for anything illegal where you live

The Community Guidelines put these rules into everyday language and give more examples.

6. Not professional advice

Forum posts are peer conversation, not medical, legal, financial, or mental-health advice. The Sapphic Sanctuary is not a crisis service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact local emergency services or a trusted hotline listed in our site footer.

7. Intellectual property

The Service's design, branding, software, and original site materials (excluding member content) belong to The Sapphic Sanctuary or its licensors. You may not copy or reuse them except as allowed by law or with written permission.

8. Third-party services

Clerk handles authentication, and the footer links to independent support organizations. Those services have their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for sites we do not control.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that content posted by members is accurate or safe.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Sapphic Sanctuary and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100).

Some places do not allow all of these limits. Where that is true, the limits apply only as far as local law allows.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless The Sapphic Sanctuary and its operators from claims arising out of your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our own willful misconduct.

12. Termination

You can stop using the Service at any time. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these Terms, and we may close the Service itself. Licenses already granted, disclaimers, and liability limits continue after access ends where the law allows.

13. Changes

We may change these Terms. The date at the top will show the latest revision. If local law requires fresh consent for a change, we will ask for it.
