GNC is about how somebody presents or moves through gender expectations. A butch woman can be GNC. A femme person can be GNC in other ways. Nonbinary and trans people may use the word too, or may prefer other language.
The acronym shows up in clinic language, campus resources, and community orgs. It describes expression. It is not a single identity everyone shares.
