The Sapphic Sanctuary
Can nonbinary and trans people be sapphic?
Yes. Trans women who love women are sapphic, and so are many nonbinary and gender-diverse people who are drawn to women and feel the word fits. The umbrella was widened on purpose so it would not center only cisgender women.

Trans women are women, so a trans woman who loves women is sapphic in exactly the same way any other woman is. Nonbinary people, transmascs, and gender-nonconforming people who are drawn to women use the word too when it resonates.
What matters is the attraction and whether the label feels like home. Some nonbinary people who do not fully identify as women still find sapphic describes their connection to women and to the community. Others prefer different words, and that is fine.
