Pansexual people often describe attraction that is not boxed in by gender, or that can land on many genders. Some use pan and bi as near-synonyms. Others feel a real difference in how the words fit.
If you are pan and attracted to women, you can be sapphic. Orientation label and community umbrella do different jobs. Plenty of people hold both.
