diagnosed at 34. the report explained my inbox. it also made a mess of old crushes. i used to treat attraction like a research project. six hours on someone's dog's instagram and i'd call it being thorough.

a friend in college flirted with me for a semester. i thought she was being nice, because niceness is something i catalog. dating men was easier in one ugly way: there was a script, and scripts are a ramp. with women i still can't tell flirting from friendliness until someone spells it out.
if a diagnosis did something to how you date, or how late you came out, i want the boring version. if it changed nothing about who you want and only changed how you plan a Tuesday, that counts too.
