separated. my kid is 9. their dad told them in the car, on the way to practice: "your mom likes women now." i had a whole plan for Saturday with pancakes and no audience. now the kid knows a headline and not much else.

what to say to a 9 year old

i don't want a picture book rec unless you actually read it to a real child and they didn't stare through you. what words did you use. what did they ask that you didn't see coming.

if the other parent tells them first

i'm angry and i also get why he blurted it. he was hurt. the kid still had to sit through soccer after. if that happened to you, did you correct the wording or leave his version alone so it didn't become a fight the kid has to referee.
