a bio said finsexual. i nodded at my phone like i knew the word. then i looked it up on the bus and got more confused, which is a talent of mine.

finsexual vs sapphic

sapphic i can explain to my sister in one sentence. women and woman-aligned people who like women. finsexual i cannot get into one sentence without sounding like i swallowed a chart.

if you use it, what are you actually telling people. if you don't, say that too. i'm collecting plain answers, not a flag quiz.

finsexual means you're into femininity. that can include a feminine guy or a feminine nonbinary person. sapphic doesn't include guys. that's the split. overlap if you're into feminine women. not the same word.

i used finsexual for a year because sapphic kept getting heard as "lesbian only" and i date femmes who aren't all women. then i got tired of explaining it at parties and went back to sapphic plus a sentence. people understood the sentence. they asked for it anyway when i only gave them the label.

i don't use it. if a bio has it i assume they mean feminine people and i ask before i guess. asking has not killed me yet.

ok so one sentence is "into femininity, and that isn't only women." i can hold that. barely.
