friend dated someone for two months last year. they fizzled. that someone asked me out. friend says she's fine. group chat says "girl code???"
i don't want to be shady. i also don't want imaginary rules to run my dating life.
what's the actual ethic here.

if she truly says she's fine, believe her once — and don't make her watch the PDA. respect > folklore.

two months isn't a marriage. still: check in again before it gets serious. people say fine and mean "don't rub it in."

if the friend is messy/jealous historically, protect your peace and skip. pattern recognition matters more than "code."
