there's a sapphic trivia night near me next week and none of my friends can go. i really want to but the idea of walking in alone makes my stomach hurt.
people who do this regularly — is it as awkward as i think or do you just power through the first 20 minutes.

first 20 minutes suck. after that someone usually asks if you're looking for a team. bring a book or stand near the snack table so you have something to do with your hands.

i go alone all the time. half the room is also alone and pretending not to be. organizers usually notice new faces and are decent about intros.
