late bloomer, 37. first relationship with a woman and i feel like i've been plugged into a wall socket.

we talk about feelings. like, a lot. which is good! also exhausting in a way dating men never was (those were exhausting differently).

is this just the honeymoon. do people eventually get a volume knob. asking for a friend who is me.

same age range, same wall socket. my therapist said "you're dating with your whole self for the first time." which sounds dramatic but tracked.

the emotional intimacy can be exhilarating and then suddenly too much. pacing helps. you don't have to process every feeling the same night it shows up.

also community outside the relationship helps. if she's your only queer connection the intensity piles up fast.

the "only queer connection" thing might be my actual problem. noted.

it settles. not into nothing — into something more sustainable. first six months are a lot for a lot of us.
