we've been friends for about 8 months. lately she's cooking for me, leaning into my space, announcing she's single in front of her friends like it's a public service announcement.
i finally asked her out. she said she was surprised, thinks i'm great, but doesn't want things to get "sticky." values the friendship.
so… was i inventing the flirting. or is this just how some people are when they're lonely after a breakup. my brain is doing loops.

could be both. rebound energy makes people warm and confusing. you asked, she answered. that part you did right.

the "sticky" line usually means she felt something and got scared, or she liked the attention without wanting the shift. either way your job now is to believe her words more than the vibes.

give it a little space so you don't spiral every hang. friendship can survive this if you're both not weird about it. mine did after a similar fumble.
