i want plot. or weirdness. or characters who feel like people.

recently liked Plain Bad Heroines (messy in a good way) and I'm circling Priory of the Orange Tree but it's a commitment.

what are your recs that aren't pure romance wallpaper — though i'll take a good romance if the writing's sharp.

Fingersmith if you haven't. twists for days. also The Jasmine Throne if you want politics and longing.

Zami by Audre Lorde isn't fiction in the usual sense but it rewired my brain. for fiction: Last Night at the Telegraph Club.

priory is worth the commitment if you like big fantasy maps and dragons. if you want shorter weird: This is How You Lose the Time War (not exclusively sapphic branding but. you know.)

telegraph club has been on my list forever. moving it up. thanks

Gideon the Ninth is chaotic and beloved for a reason. romance is… complicated. plot is a meat grinder.
